Mission Statement

The Longmont High School Education Foundation enhances the academic achievement at Longmont High School through support of and assistance to students and staff in attaining goals in excellence in education.

Who are we?

The LHS Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a group of Longmont citizens, educators, parents and alumni who are interested in continuing the tradition of academic excellence at LHS.

What do we do?

  • Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation awarded thousands of dollars annually in the form of grants to academically based programs at LHS.  We raise funds to provide resources for academic enhancements which are not covered through the normal school budget.  Longmont High School staff members apply for grants from the Foundation to cover all or part of the expenses for these enhancements to the curriculum.  By the end of the 2011-12 academic year, over $30,000 in funds will have been awarded.

  • As part of our 2011-12 fundraising effort, we are working to build the Trojan Pride Walkway with the Longmont High Booster Club, local business support and parent and staff support.

  • Through Student of the Term awards, we recognize students who have demonstrated achievement of academic excellence and/or have enhanced the overall climate of Longmont High School.

  • We support and participate with LHS faculty and staff annually in the Gordon Cramer Award nomination process which recognizes top female and male athletes who are civic minded and demonstrate high academic achievement.

  • We foster outstanding leadership in our schools by annually sponsoring a teacher for Education Foundation for St Vrain's, Encore Awards. The Encore Awards recognize and honor individual teachers at who exemplify excellence in teaching.

  • University and College Admission Network (UCAN):  Provide college application assistance to Juniors and Seniors at Longmont High by advertising a College Admission Advising calendar, providing essay clinics, attending junior English classes to give application advice, and helping teachers make recommendations by clarifying expectations and holding recommendation writing clinics.
