Fall 2011 Junior Student of the Term Winners

Ian Lai (male)

Nominated by:  Brandt Boeke

Ian Lai is a junior boy who is a second language English student, always in Honors, always persisting, and having increasing success in both reading and writing. Plus, he's the only boy who read Little Women for summer reading, so that's worth a lot! He is a very good cooperative learner, working well with his classmates of many types and both genders. English is his hardest class, he says, but he never stops trying, and keeps a positive attitude

Drew Magee (male)

Nominated by:  Rick Olsen

Lily Hansis (female)

Nominated by:  Jackie Bilan

"Lily...is an extremely hard worker but has a heart of gold. Lily is the first to reach out to other students, especially when they are in need....Lily is also the student who comes in on her free time to clarify an assignment with me. She demonstrates advocacy for herself and independence by asking for help and making sure she understands the assignment. I am very proud of Lily and her work ethic and especially proud of her reaching out to others in need...Why this student stands out in the crowd: Her selflessness, her attitude and her caring for others."

Kelcy Coleman  (female)

Nominated by:  Andrea Tribelhorn

"Kelcy is one of those students that is just solid in the building. She always has a smile for all kids and she has fun everyday. Kelcy does the right thing but doesn’t expect praise for it.  Kelcy’s true character shines when she is in her aiding class. Kelcy is an aid with the severe needs students. Her eyes light up when she is working with these students. Kelcy has a heart of gold and compassion and empathy to fill up a swimming pool."
